Ellen Egerton

LPC: Licensed Professional Counselor

Hello, I’m Ellen! I became a counselor because I truly love guiding clients through their unique journeys of self-discovery and growth. My goal is to make counseling a deeply transformative experience, where we work together to turn challenges into opportunities for meaningful, lasting change.

In my practice, I emphasize building strong, trusting relationships with clients to help them feel comfortable addressing sensitive issues during sessions. This approach helps clients develop healthier attachment and greater relational security in their everyday lives and fosters greater engagement and effectiveness in the overall therapeutic process.

I find that Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are particularly effective for clients seeking balance between their thoughts and feelings. We utilize techniques such as breathing exercises, body awareness, and mindfulness practices to help manage emotional fluctuations due to stress, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. These approaches also lead to deeper understanding of oneself and increased self-assurance.

My background includes working with pre-teens, teens, young adults, and families across various settings, including church ministries, middle and high school counseling centers, and higher education institutions. I am licensed to work in both public schools and private practice. If a client prefers, I’m happy to incorporate faith in our counseling sessions.

If you feel we could work well together, I would be happy to connect and start with you on your counseling journey.

What I do for fun:

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling and being outside (especially during summer) and studying the Bible.
