Bruce Norquist

Ph.D, LPC

Hello, I’m Bruce. After spending 29 years in higher education developing leaders, mentoring, and supporting the emotional needs of college students, I transitioned into counseling because I believe deeply in the power of emotional safety, attuned empathy, and courageous presence to bring meaningful change. My goal is to create a counseling space where clients feel grounded, seen, and supported—an environment where deep reflection can lead to healthier internal rhythms and a more compassionate way of relating to oneself.

I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Moody Theological Seminary. My approach is shaped by evidence-based practices and emphasizes strengthening emotional awareness, cultivating psychological flexibility, and grounding ourselves through mindful daily living. I believe that growth happens when we learn to slow down, tune in to our internal world, and extend compassion to the parts of ourselves that feel overwhelmed or unseen.

I bring decades of experience working with college students and young adults, yet I see clients of all ages from 13 on up. I also work with couples to move beyond destructive relational dynamics and build more attuned, secure connections. My clinical experience includes working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, vocational stress, workplace burnout, insomnia, spiritual trauma, and “church hurt.” I take a thoughtful, steady approach that helps clients make sense of their inner experience and move toward greater clarity and wholeness.

What I do for fun:

I enjoy reading books, listening to podcasts, and cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs—all preferably with a good cup of coffee in hand. When I’m not working, you can usually find me spending time with my wife and our three children, who are in college, high school, and elementary school.
