ALMFT
When I ventured into becoming a therapist, what kept me going was envisioning having a place where people could come as they are and feel invited, safe, and seen. I imagined people coming with all sorts of thoughts, beliefs, and broken experiences that wanted to know what it is to have peace within themselves, to feel reconnected with their bodies and those around them again, and to feel empowered to take on anything life could throw at them.
Being a marriage and family therapist doesn’t mean I only work with couples and families. Actually, I love working with individuals and holistically looking at one's life and current challenges through a systemic and relational lens. I'm mindful of the power in compassion and connection, and the growth that comes from challenging oneself too.
Specifically, I utilize evidence-based practices such as DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). As I get to know you, I would love to integrate and introduce you to a range of therapeutic modalities. Somatic therapy will help you connect with your body's wisdom and release stored trauma, while narrative therapy will empower you to rewrite your story and find new meaning. Internal Family Systems (IFS) offers a compassionate framework for understanding and healing the different parts of yourself, fostering inner harmony and self-acceptance. By combining these approaches, I aim to support you in accessing your innate resilience, cultivating self-compassion, and achieving lasting transformation. If you’re especially struggling with an eating disorder and/or chronic illness, I’m your girl! I know it’s hard to come by a therapist that “gets” you.
I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families in various settings, including in-home therapy and intensive outpatient programs. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development & Family from the University of Rhode Island and my Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Wheaton College. I'm passionate about this work and committed to helping you achieve your goal of living a full and vibrant life.
While I invite you into the experience of therapy with me, I'm privileged to also be invited to know you: your personality and way of seeing the world, your wounds and stories that lead you to where you are today. Most importantly, to be in the process with you.
What I do for fun:
Bike rides with my husband, playing board games with my family and friends, traveling to my home state of Rhode Island in the summer, being near the ocean or mountains, singing and playing my guitar.
