ALMFT
Hi there! I’m Becca and I firmly believe that we are all meant to live life to the fullest, "in color.” To illustrate this, I often reference a movie that begins in black and white and transitions into color. It's captivating to see how life in black and white appears comfortable, familiar, and safe, yet lacks the vibrancy and richness that color brings. Perhaps you feel that you're meant to live in more color than you currently are. Good! Hold on to that and don’t let go. As a way to introduce you to how I do therapy starts with my willingness to hold this with you and to remind you who you are and the full, vibrant life you're meant to live.
Living life to the full is way easier said than done. The experience of anxiety, the presence of the eating disorder or addiction, the preparation for marriage or being in the midst of a relational rupture are some of the many obstacles that can be encountered along the way. While this will require willingness and an effort to do some hard things, I’m here to be in this with you and cheering you on too.
As a marriage and family therapist, I take a systemic and relational approach, exploring the systems that impact your life and emphasizing connection, empathy, curiosity, and compassion. I also utilize evidence-based practices such as DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). As I get to know you, I would love to integrate a range of therapeutic modalities to create a personalized and holistic experience for your healing journey. Somatic therapy will help you connect with your body's wisdom and release stored trauma, while narrative therapy will empower you to rewrite your story and find new meaning. Internal Family Systems (IFS) offers a compassionate framework for understanding and healing the different parts of yourself, fostering inner harmony and self-acceptance. By combining these approaches, I aim to support you in accessing your innate resilience, cultivating self-compassion, and achieving lasting transformation.
I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families in various settings, including in-home therapy and intensive outpatient programs. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development & Family from the University of Rhode Island and my Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Wheaton College. I'm passionate about this work and committed to helping you achieve your goal of living a full and vibrant life.
Before our first session, I encourage you to reflect on what living "in color" would look like and feel like for you. Together, we'll create a path to help you achieve that vision. Let’s go after it!
What I do for fun:
Bike rides with my husband, playing board games with my family and friends, traveling to my home state of Rhode Island in the summer, being near the ocean or mountains, singing and playing my guitar.
