Autism Spectrum

Autism is not a problem to be fixed—it’s a unique way of experiencing the world. At Life Redefined, we provide therapy that honors neurodiversity and supports individuals on the autism spectrum in developing self-awareness, emotional resilience, and meaningful connections.

Whether you're a parent seeking support for your child, a teen navigating identity and social pressures, or an adult learning to understand yourself in new ways, we meet you where you are—with care, clarity, and compassion.

What do you think?

Read the question below and see if you know the answer.

True or False? Autism always looks the same from person to person.

  • It's easy to assume that—but the correct answer is false.

  • Correct. Autism is a spectrum, and no two people experience it exactly alike. Some are highly verbal, others nonverbal. Some are highly sensitive to sensory input; others seek it out. Therapy must be personalized, because every neurodivergent mind is beautifully unique.

Let's take a deeper dive:

A Deep Dive: Understanding Autism Spectrum Differences

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects how individuals perceive the world, communicate, and relate to others. It often includes:

  • Differences in social interaction or communication

  • Repetitive behaviors or routines

  • Sensory sensitivities (to light, sound, texture, or touch)

  • Intense focus on specific interests

  • Difficulties with transitions or change

Autism is not caused by trauma or poor parenting. It's not something to "cure"—it's something to understand and support. Many people on the spectrum also experience co-occurring challenges like anxiety, ADHD, or depression, which we are well-equipped to treat in tandem.

Our Approach to Autism Counseling

Our goal isn’t to make autistic clients conform to neurotypical standards—but to help them thrive, build confidence, and find strategies that work for their brains and lives.

Our therapists are trained in working with neurodiverse children, teens, and adults, using:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) adapted for ASD: Helps clients manage anxiety, rigidity, or negative self-talk while honoring their cognitive style

  • Play-based or creative interventions: For younger children or those who communicate best through play, art, or movement

  • Social skills coaching: For clients who want help navigating friendships, dating, school, or workplace dynamics

  • Parent guidance and collaboration: We work closely with parents to develop practical tools, emotional insight, and advocacy skills

  • Strengths-based narrative therapy: We help clients rewrite internal stories of “not enough” into narratives of self-acceptance and capability

For those who request it, we also integrate faith-based values, offering space for spiritual support, identity development, and theological reflection through a Christian lens.

Goals + Objectives:

  • Help individuals develop emotional awareness and coping strategies

  • Improve communication and social interaction in ways that feel safe and authentic

  • Reduce anxiety, sensory overwhelm, or stress related to transitions

  • Foster independence, self-advocacy, and executive functioning

  • Support parents or caregivers in understanding and responding to their child’s unique needs

Next Steps:

Neurodiversity is not a flaw—it’s a different way of being. At Life Redefined, we don’t try to change who you are. We help you better understand yourself, reduce unnecessary distress, and build a life that reflects your strengths, values, and goals.
